Abstract

Abstract: The meaning of chronology of the Qur'an is showing the date of the revelation of Qur'anic chapters and verses. With regard to the fact that this is a historical research topic and it's ways of research also are historical which originated from traditions, verses and chapters, most of the muslim Qur'anic researchers on this topic have related their own researchers to Ibn Abbas traditions and they have arranged the chapters of the Qur'an in accordance to that tradition of Ibn Abbas.
On the other hand, the orientalists who in most cases have taken the ritm and tone of the Qur'anic verses to be the basic of their researches or they have relied on weak traditions, have ended in reaching a mistaken result, in such a way that the result of their own researches about the chapters and verses of the Qur'an is contrary to the anrangement according to tradition, and even among their own arrangement a lot of differences and contradictions can be seen and this shows that the base and source of their researches is nothing but mere fiction. The most important orientalists who made a research on this issue are: THEODOUR NOLDEKE, GUSTAV WELL, RODWELL, BLACHERE, RICHARD BELL, WILLAM MUIR, GRIMME AN HIRCHFELD.
It should be noted that among the aforemen tined orientalists, only Richard bell worked on the chronology of the Qur'anic verses, the rest did their researches on the Qur'anic chapters chronology.
In this articlle, the chronology of the Qur'anic verses by Richard Bell is going to be studied.
