One of the most important means of education, which has an extraordinary effect on the growth of individuals and, consequently, society, is the use of storytelling. Through this art one can introduce exemplary lives, values and anti-values. Historical tales are a rich source [of cognition] and replete of lessons to be taken. For people, by reading history in the form of a story, perceive which factors led to the ancients’ prosperity and adversity. And they feel sympathy towards the role-makers of the story. Seeing their victory or failure will help them take precious lessons. The author makes use of documentary research method in this article. He, in addition to describing and categorizing the Orientalists’ views, analyzes and criticizes their viewpoints. According to him, the Qur'an has used this art in its best possible manner. And in some cases, the Quran has removed it from the state of purely telling-tales and has given it a pedagogical and guiding aspect. Thus, it has refrained from mentioning the details of the stories as it is and was used to be the case among the people. Given this unparalleled art of the Quran, the orientalists, have raised some questions and doubts to damage it. In this article, such views of the Orientalists have been criticized and it has become clear that the Holy Quran has employed the art of storytelling in a correct way and this art still is an influential branch in the humanities.
