This article has two parts. In the first part Wael Hallaq’s explanations about Islamic jurisprudence(religion) is presented. He believes that Quran has a great role on Islamic jurisprudence. Of course among the four main sources of Islamic law, Quran is the first and most important source. Although considering the substantial (essential) laws and compared with the whole collection of religion, Quran covers relatively less legal subjects, but very few number of the most substantial laws dominating Muslim’s individual and social life is directly explained in Quran or understood from other verses. The reason that Quran is the centre of religion (jurisprudence) is more due to religious and thinking considerations and it is less due to its ability to satisfy various jurisprudential (legal) subjects.
In the second part, critic of the article analyses its content. While criticizing the writer for not paying attention to Shi’ite jurisprudentialsources, he introduces the sources. And he presents a research about the number of Quran’s injunction versesand counts them between 500 to 2000 verses. He then compares it with Bible’s injunctions.
