The present writing undertakes review of the work “Quran: an encyclopaedia” written and edited by Oliver Leman. In addition, it introduces the head editor, writers, and criticizes the index of entries, the way of its selection. This book covering 800 pages contains 468 main and referring entries. It got published in 2005 with the contribution of 8 editors plus 43 professional writers. Paying attention to the Shiite sect and its personalities, giving the entries name with the Quranic vocabularies, being precise in the content of its entries and the easy understanding language they have employed in encyclopaedia are from the positive points The negative points of this work are such as not utilizing the expert and competent Quranic researchers, lacking a comprehensive order in organizing the entries, having no disciplined method for choosing and referring the entries and paying insufficient attention to key concepts of the Quran.
