Myths in the Qur'an and the mythologizing of Qur'anic propositions and concepts are among the topics that have received the attention of orientalists with various approaches and methods. William Montgomery Watt (William Montgomery Watt) is one of the Islamic scholars who has studied the concepts and propositions of the Quran and tries to explain these propositions with a mythological reading. He interprets the description and explanation of the truth of religion and its propositions in a secondary language as a myth, and the criterion of their authenticity is the impact on the lives of believers. He has investigated this issue by relying on the methodological principles of the phenomenological approach. Autonomy or independence is a holy matter and the use of historical and experimental methods is one of the methodological principles of this approach. This article tries to investigate Watt's view on myth in the Quran according to the principles and evaluate it in the form of a case study. Symbolic and figurative language, presenting a different criterion for measuring the truthfulness of a statement that has been interpreted as the fruits of religion, and also presenting a different definition of the revelation and revelatory nature of the Qur'an, which leads to mixing it with the context and experiences of the Prophet, among other topics is that this article has reviewed it.
