Researchers have different views about the aims of orientalists in Islamic studies. Regardless of the correctness or incorrectness of these views, what is clear from these studies is that orientalists have tried to present their presuppositions and mentalities to the audience in the form of unbiased researches, with extensive references to the sources of commentary, hadiths and history of Sunnis. This research, which is organized by descriptive and analytical method and based on library sources, has investigated Orientalists' reference to Sunni sources and misuse of these sources to establish their views with a case study of the article of Varaqeh Bin Noufal in Islamic Encyclopedia. The findings of this research show that orientalists, who sometimes criticize and doubt definite historical materials, have taken for granted everything that can be a justification for their claims in these sources and have documented their presuppositions on those materials. They have tried to prove their claim about the non-revelation of the Qur'an by referring to this story, which is found in historical and hadith sources of the Sunnis, while this story, in addition to the objection of a document, is similar to the Qur'an, hadiths, reason and evidence in terms of content. Definite history is inconsistent. Magnifying some historical details and adding possibilities as research findings are among the common methods of orientalists.
